Hi my name is Helena and I am originally from Perth. I moved to Melbourne in my early 20's where I developed my interest and passion for wine. I was fortunate to win the Price Waterhouse Young Entrepreneurs Program under the mentorship of Len Evans and this took me to Hong Kong where I started Australian Wine Cellars. These were the early days of the wine industry in Hong Kong and I was fortunate enough to meet many pioneers and legends in the wine industry. See Proud to Drink Australian.
The travel bug got me again and I moved to Europe and spent the next period of my life in the corporate world and continued to pursue my passion for wine. I completed the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Level 3 in wine (WSET) at Chene Bleu's Extreme Wine Course in the Rhone Valley.
After traveling extensively and visiting all the major wine regions in the world, I realised that what we have here in Margaret River is magical and extraordinary. The combination of world class wineries, pristine beaches, boutique breweries, gourmet foods and stunning art is unique.
So I came home and made the region my home. Today, many of the wine makers, chefs, event organizers and artists are personal friends. This gives me the unique opportunity to share some of the lesser-known hidden gems with you along with the iconic world-renowned boutique wineries and artisans.
Adrian is our Trip Advisor 5 star rated tour guide. Adrian is a wine lover, musician and surfer. He is also a volunteer firefighter and each vintage turns his hand to grape picking.
Being a local Adrian knows the region and the winemakers which enables him to select the wineries that most suit the interests of our guests. He and "Belle", our little bus, ensure our guests have the most magical day amongst the vines.
My partner and I were fortunate enough to have Adrian for a tour in early December 2022. It was our first time in Margaret River, and Adrian not only took us to superb, family owned wineries, but also provided us with a rich summary of the history of the region throughout the entire day and assisted us in planning the rest of our time in Margaret River. It was the perfect introduction to the region, and as Helena foreshadowed when we originally booked, a “magical day amongst the vines”. I could not recommend Margaret River Unplugged enough. My wife and I got to see and hear so much about the area from our guide Adrian. It was just such a fantastic day out with a great selection of wineries (a lot of which were a bit smaller and more intimate than some of the larger scale producers)…oh, and a lovely lunch to boot at Woody Nook! Really can’t speak highly enough of this tour and of Adrian who went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and got to see some of the fabulous scenery that the region has to offer. OUR MISSION
MARGARET RIVER UNPLUGGED TOURS was born with the mission to create amazing experiences, showcasing the award-winning wines and stunning cellar doors of the region via our handcrafted WINE TOURS and CHARTERS.
OUR VISION
When we started Margaret River Unplugged in 2017, we had a vision to engage with the community and to contribute a percentage of our profits to charities.
Since then, we are proud to have supported various charities by donating tours, wine and contributing to various fund-raising initiatives.
In 2018 we support Telethon through charity events with our partner The Pullman Resort Bunkers Bay.
In 2019 we donated 30% of the proceeds from our tours to The McGrath Foundation charity "Pinking Up Our Region" to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Nurses in the Margaret River Region.
In 2022 50% of the proceeds from our tours went to helping Ukrainian women and children. Unplugged sponsored Music in the Park to raise funds for The Women's Refuge in Ukraine and wine was kindly donated by Domaine Naturaliste.
In 2023 we continue to donate 50% of the proceeds from our tours to The Ukrainian Women's Refuge in Lviv, Ukraine.
This is "Belle" our little bus. She seats 12 people comfortably and keeps everyone safe and sound.
We recently added a beautiful Mercedes convertible to our team. She is available for private luxury tours and weddings.
